How to SIM, pt 2 (Email Sims)
Email and Message Board sims are quite different then Live sims because they do not have time restraints. Instead of one hour in which to progress a plot, it may take several weeks to complete a single episode. Due to the extended time constraints, members have the luxury of participating in their free time and not having to wait a week to progress their character. This allows for extended development of the plot and the attention to detail that is not allowed in a Live sim. While this allows for more creativity, Email and MB sims should only be done by experienced simmers. The amount of time it takes for one episode in Email and MB sims is often a lot more than what is needed for Live sims. Here is an excerpt from an Email Sim:

Episode: Firestorm Horizons
Commander Alexander Dax
:::Commander Dax walks out of the turbolift and onto the bridge. There is a momentary pause before he walks down the ramp to the lower level. As he approaches the command level, a slim, brown-haired lady gets up from the Captain's chair and stands at attention.:::
<Torres> <Dax> Sir, we have located the source of the anion emissions. It appears to be originating in the Icara System.
<Dax> <Torres> Icara?
<Torres> <Dax> Yes, sir. Icara is a ternary star system about 30 light years from here. It sits near the edge of Orion's belt.
:::Commander Dax pauses to consider this new information before addressing the young lady again.:::
<Dax> <Torres> Understood. Set a course for the Icara Sector, warp 4 and engage.
<Torres> <Dax> Aye Sir.
:::Lieutenant Torres walks over to the Helmsman's chair and replaces the ensign who was manning the station.:::
<Torres> <Dax> Course laid in sir.
<Dax> <Torres> Thank you, Lieutenant.
<Dax> Computer, begin Gamma Shift.
:::The lights dim, indicating that the ship has begun it's graveyard shift. The Chronometer on the wall reads 00:00 hrs.:::
Periodically, the CO and/or XO may give out awards, commendations, etc. Every week, the CO an/or XO will also brief their crew on the current plot, making any last-minute reminders and announcements.
